Draw a character in a style you had __ years a go.. let's go!

One more fun art challenge was brought to my attention. I've seen stuff like that before a few times but I didn't had it that much on my radar that much to actually do it..

Now.. as someone with multiple art styles, I had to pick specific ones. aka my favs I had over the years. My style was often all over the place, especially with human characters as I was still trying to get my style there. But I was super uninterested in drawing an animal for this challenge. + this is by far the most interesting for me and shows the biggest differences too.

Out of all these styles, I only like my current style. Its a style and a direction I always wanted to develop and get to. I am not 100% happy with this style but I am the most happy with it compared to anything else. Any minor-looking/kid appealing style was always extremely uninteresting and unappealing to me in humans. Not in any art, mainly my own.

As someone who only did creatures and animals, getting to a style like my current one was super difficult, and took roughly 4 years. (I started 2019 with humans, and built my way up). I drew pretty much anything like the first style you see on the sheet and getting to semi realism was... something lmao. Ended up with a ton of uncanny things as well, wide faces, big eyes and the completely wrong proportions.

To be honest the way I drew the styles here actually appear 10 times better than my past art. In some weird way.. it was just difficult for me to draw bad?! idk if this makes much sense. But replicating the skill-less appeal of my past work was hard to achieve, also because I still wanted to put effort into everything, not just my current style piece. So I guess in some way I ended up with something better than my old styles while still making it look like my old styles.

Bonus

If you have read and scrolled to the end, here is a bonus for you. It's a phone wallpaper of my character I did for the month september. Super cool outcome (imo lol) thanks for sticking around with me and checking out my artwork!
