...

This post is going to be long.

I started another random project about a week a go which I finished recently. It looks kinda unimpressive on the photos but it's pretty cool in person. I took apart a clock the other day and used the acrylic glass from the removable cover. Over time, the inside of the clock started to mold... obviously I can't keep a moldy clock in the livingroom so I deceided to clean it. After I realised the cover was removable, I didn't put it back on again. I then got the idea to paint it. I always want to use everything as a canvas... my little artistic brain going into automode.

Painting the glass was really satisfying... and I'm thinking about buying some more acrylic glass of off Ali to do it again. Posca markers draw nicely on it, even if the layering was kinda rough because the paint kept getting scratched off by the brush tip due to the smooth surface. It works great if you barely apply pressure, though and I eventually got it to work. I could sand it next time but only if I'm covering the whole surface, otherwise the clear 'transparent effect' is pretty ruined.

The painting shows Rebecka surrounded by pink flames. The pose is from pintere- eh I mean AIest. No, thankfully you can still find useful resources there but the amount of AI is horrible. I had the idea of her sorta reaching over her head to the glass. That, and forshortening is cool.

I have had some issues which is pretty noticable in the 2nd WIP with her face being wonky. Its one of those "The sketch looked good" cases. As soon as I colored, I noticed something wasn't looking right. I have this issue relatively often with traditional media for some reason. I draw the exact same on my tablet but rarely encounter this. Well, because I use posca pens, mistakes can be fixed! The next image shows improvement of the facial features and I was able to create a decent looking face. Its not perfect, however. I'm unhappy with her eye placement, but its better than before.

Colors!live

A few weeks a go, I purchased colors!live for the nintendo switch for nostalgic reasons. Colors!3D was my first digital era and kinda the start in a more serious art journey. The 9000 hours I have spent in this 'game' don't lie :P (the stats are crazy did I even exist outside my nintendo?)

Obviously, the golden time is long gone. The platform is dead, pretty much, which isn't surprising. But its still nice to come back. Unlike the Nintendo3DSXL, the switch version is much more advanced and ofc, features a higher resolution. One of my favorite aspects of the old Colors was the tiny, forgiving size XDD you see where this is going... I struggle. Its more a comfort issue than anything. I don't do well in different software from my usual.

I actually ended up finishing something. And it's Rebecka, again. It looks really bad and not even my style. idk what happened... the worst part is that I worked 3 and a half hours on this. Its not horrible but I can do better. The good thing is, after 3 hours, I got a good feel of the hard and software and got faster with the tools.

New/Old Favorite Brush

I wanna ramble about my love for my favorite brush!! I have no clue what its called. It used to be in Japanese and I renamed it to something funny but its part of the firealpaca brush store, which my app is connected to. Its a textured brush, that's about it, but it creates amazing results!

The texture it creates when drawing is perfect. No matter if coloring, rendering or lineart. I have done artwork consisting of only this brush because it just works so well. Like these below: It makes my art so much nicer??? The 2 transparent full bodies were my first attempts, just testing it out, and everything else is more recent than that. I have used this brush many times before, just not to this level or in this style. It makes drawing so fun, I can get messy yet intentional with it. And its SHARP, or well, sharper in comparion to my other techniques. I am getting tired of the soft look and feel of my work. Its also the thing people associated with me which is.. not really what I want to convey? My primary issue was finding a rendering style I like and I feel like I found it now. I'll surely experiment with it over time but I think I'll stick with the general concept.

If you look closely, my posca painting I talked about at the beginning has a very similar coloring style to it. That's because I tried to replicate it on paper (well.. glass.)

Lucius

I finally drew Lucius a GOOD ref. Its been 4 years since I first drew him and just now he ended up looking right to his headworld version. God damn skill issue. Well, that's kinda embarrassing... Better late than never eh?

His chameleon Stanley is a brand new addition. I felt like fleshing him out more and figured a pet could suit him and his life on earth quite well.

Misc

I drew a bunch of music player commissions (still am- as of writing this). Some of it are in my art gallery already as well) which I'm really happy with. I enjoy drawing the huuuge variety of characters SO much. I didn't know if I could ever move away from drawing furries in this furry style I started disliking years back and get people interested in the stuff I enjoy, but now.. I did. 😭 I won't lie... its a little scary for me still to do these orders, because I feel like my style is unlikeable to others (due to the way I was treated in the past) but at the same time it cheers me up so much.

Let's end this post with an ad. Don't follow your dreams, attack me on Artfight this year!
